C/K/CK Rule

Rule 1: Use c before a, o, u. Examples: canopy castle cavern copious cognate college cunning custard cuddle Use k before i or e. Examples: kindred kilogram kitten keen keeper Use ck at the end of a 1 syllable word after a short vowel. Examples: sock pack truck slick neck When adding suffixes, add k to preserve the hard c /k/ sound. Example: panicking frolicking trafficked
